Non-traditional fishing dog: Doc

Lisa and Doc

From Lisa: "Andrew and I rescued, Doc, on Oct 31st, 2011. We think he is a lab mixed with Chow and Australian Shepard. He immediately bonded with us and within weeks, he became a natural fishing companion- either in a boat or wading on the river. He has changed our lives completely in all ways positive and exciting."

  1. Rescue dogs make the best companions and make life better on and off the water.

  2. I couldn't agree more! We were hoping that Doc's first encounter with a steelhead would have been with a wild one while swinging flies on the river, but we were lucky to have had a good friend take us out on his boat with him and were able to land this healthy hatchery fish while back-trolling (my first time doing it, so I appreciated the different fishing experience). I also feel obligated to mention that this was a hatchery fish that we bonked (and therefore was out of its misery) before we took photos. :) Thank you for the post, Rick and Joe!

  3. I think it's awesome that Doc got to see a steelhead regardless of technique, and he proved good mojo by being around for the bonking of a hatchery fish! Dinner on the table is a good thing! Thank you for submitting Lisa!
